Do I need a motorcycle licence to ride a scooter in Da Nang?
Riders aged 16 or older may ride a qualifying 50cc scooter without a motorcycle driving licence in Vietnam. The vehicle must be legally classified as a moped, with a design speed of no more than 50 km/h and an engine capacity of no more than 50 cm³.
To ride a 125cc–150cc scooter such as a Vespa or Honda PCX, foreign visitors should carry a valid national motorcycle licence and a matching International Driving Permit recognised in Vietnam. Please check that your documents cover the correct motorcycle category before booking.
Do you deliver scooters to hotels and Da Nang Airport?
Yes. We offer scooter delivery and collection at hotels, apartments and agreed locations in central Da Nang. Rentals of 5 days or longer may qualify for free delivery and pick-up. Shorter rentals may include a small distance-based delivery fee.
Airport handovers should be arranged with us in advance so we can confirm the meeting location and delivery time.
Does DanangBike keep my original passport?
No. We do not keep your original passport. You may need your passport for hotel check-in, travel or an emergency. We only request the identification information needed to prepare your rental agreement.
Can I ride a 50cc scooter from Da Nang to Hoi An?
Yes. A well-maintained 50cc scooter is generally suitable for the relatively flat coastal route between Da Nang and Hoi An when ridden carefully and within its intended limits.
We do not recommend 50cc scooters for steep mountain routes such as the Hai Van Pass or the upper roads of Son Tra Peninsula. These routes require more power, suitable riding experience and the correct motorcycle licence.
What should I do if the scooter has a technical problem?
Contact DanangBike through WhatsApp and send us your current location, a short description of the problem and a photo or video when possible.
Depending on your location and the issue, we will guide you to a nearby repair service, arrange roadside assistance or organise a replacement scooter when available.
Is a cash deposit required to rent a scooter?
No cash deposit is required for standard rentals. You pay the agreed rental fee and any confirmed delivery charge. Identification verification and a signed rental agreement are still required before the scooter is handed over.
What information do I need to book a scooter?
Please send us your rental dates, preferred scooter, delivery location and WhatsApp number. We will also need identification details for the rental agreement.
For scooters above 50cc, please confirm that you hold the correct motorcycle licence and recognised International Driving Permit before completing your booking.
